Applications for the 2024-25 Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize are open.
The Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize aims to promote and preserve the meaning of the Anzac spirit in the Tasmanian community.
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Guy Barnett, said that the Prize honours Frank MacDonald MM as a representative of Tasmania’s World War One veterans and the broader community of veterans.
“I am incredibly proud that under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we can continue to honour not just the legacy of Frank, but of all Anzacs,” Minister Barnett said.
“This Prize gives six young Tasmanians the opportunity of participating in a two-week study tour of the Western Front in France and Belgium, and to attend the Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Australian National Memorial, Villers Bretonneux.
“The Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize provides an incredible opportunity for young Tasmanians to walk in the footsteps of Tasmanian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice over 100 years ago.”
The students will be accompanied by a Tour Leader, two teachers, a representative from RSL Tasmania and a Parliamentarian.
