Level Up Tasmania Video Games Showcase

Tasmania is set to exhibit the best in the state’s video gaming industry with the launch of a new Level Up Tasmania Video Game Showcase in 2024.

Minister for the Arts, Madeleine Ogilvie, announced the new showcase at the Hobart launch of Giant Margarita’s Party Poppers video game being released for the PlayStation 5.

“Level Up is presented by Screen Tasmania and will showcase the incredible video game developers we have right here in our state,” said Minister Ogilvie.

“The three-day event aims to raise the profile of Tasmanian-made video games and their developers in the community and on the national stage.

“The Tasmanian Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future includes a $500,000 investment into the Tasmanian game development sector, with funding from this going to the Level Up showcase.

“The funds will also be used to provide grants through Screen Tasmania’s Games Development Program.

“This program has already supported local video game developers like Giant Margarita, who have been a vital incubator of Tasmanian games.

“Tassie video games like Party Poppers being approved for release on Sony’s PS5 show our video gaming development community is going from strength to strength.

“The current round of funding for applications for the Games Development Program close on 23 July - I’m excited to see our local video game developers ‘level up’!”

The Level Up Tasmania Video Game Showcase will be held at PW1, Hobart from 27–29 September 2024.

Developers interested in showcasing their game at the event are invited to contact Screen Tasmania at info@screen.tas.gov.au.
